From 17 November 1925 until 1 May 1926 Dunedin was host to a world fair on a grand scale - the New Zealand and South Seas International Exhibition.
The Exhibition, covering 6.5 hectares of reclaimed land at Logan Park, comprised seven pavilions grouped on either side of a Grand Court, plus a Festival Hall topped with a distinctive Grand Dome, a fernery, an aquarium, an Art Gallery, an Amusement Park and more.
It attracted 3,200,498 visits in 24 weeks which equated to more than twice the population of the entire country at that time.
